Sidecar Factory Club

Sidecar Factory Club is the name still used for the concert calendar at Plaça Reial 7 in Barcelona, a roughly 200–300-capacity room whose former Sidecar space now operates as Club Sauvage. Its draw is concentrated scale: live sets take place in the same central Gothic Quarter venue that spent four decades as Sidecar, then reopened under new ownership with upgraded sound, facilities and soundproofing. Expect a close-range show before the space shifts into cocktail-bar and club mode.

A bar becomes a concert room, then changes hands

Roberto Tierz opened Sidecar in late 1982 as a drinks bar with its own DJ, taking over the site of the Texas, a venue associated with visiting U.S. Sixth Fleet sailors. The first live act was Barcelona group Distrito V; Sidecar soon became a useful first room for local bands working outside the city’s larger halls. During the 1990s, Tierz acquired the upper floor facing Plaça Reial and secured permissions for live music that had previously run unofficially, establishing the concert-room format familiar to regulars. In January 2024, Tierz transferred the business as he retired, and Sidecar’s farewell shows included Sidonie, Ladilla Rusa, Los Rebeldes and Josele Santiago. The renovated venue reopened on July 26, 2024 as Club Sauvage, with Barcelona urban collective Chäckra inaugurating the new chapter.

The room today

The current booking line keeps live music at the center while widening the palette across folk-pop, rock, indie rock, flamenco-pop and rap; the active calendar includes Luca Fogale, FOCK, Fraderita, Baloncesto and Rô Rosa. Concerts use the basement performance space, while cocktails lead the ground-floor offer and late club sessions run Tuesday through Sunday. For showgoers, that means a compact, standing-room experience with recently improved sound and insulation, plus a bar-led environment that carries on after the set.
