About Razzmatazz

Razzmatazz is Barcelona’s five-room concert hall and nightclub in Poblenou, with a 2,100-capacity main room and a building designed for several musical worlds at once. Its defining feature is scale with circulation: one former industrial complex can host a full-size rock or pop show in Room 1 while smaller rooms run separate bills or DJ programming. The venue occupies a former engine plant and textile-processing warehouse, giving its concert spaces a high-ceilinged factory character.

A Zeleste reborn

The address carries the second chapter of Sala Zeleste, the Barcelona room created by jazz devotee Víctor Jou in 1973 on Carrer Argenteria. As audiences outgrew that 300-capacity space, Jou opened a larger Zeleste in Poblenou in July 1986, adapting an industrial building on Carrer dels Almogàvers that had housed two carpet factories. The move created a three-room venue with capacity for 3,000 people and brought international touring acts into a setting built on the city’s manufacturing past.

Economic problems closed Zeleste in 2000. That December, José Cadahia and Dani Faidella took over the former room, secured its activity licence, and prepared its relaunch under the name Razzmatazz. The new venue opened on December 14, 2000, with The Flaming Lips. Its five-room identity took fuller form in 2003, when The Loft and Lolita joined the wider Razzmatazz complex under a single ticket.

The room today

Razzmatazz books touring live acts alongside its own club programmes. Its current house nights split the building by sound and audience: RazzClub ranges across electronic music, rap, techno, house, afrobeats and breaks; Common People centres pop, indie pop, electro-pop, Britpop and rock; El Dirty and Mandanga lean into hits, dance pop and reggaeton. For concertgoers, the useful physical fact is the flexible five-space plan: stages, professional live and DJ sound, lighting and visuals sit across 3,700 square metres, with each space supplied with its own bar, cloakroom, restrooms and outdoor terrace access.
