Sant Jordi Club

Sant Jordi Club is Barcelona’s 4,620-capacity indoor concert room beside the Palau Sant Jordi on Montjuïc. Its stage occupies the former Olympic annex: created as a training and warm-up space, it now delivers the scale of an arena support building with a club-show floor. The room sits within the Olympic Ring complex and links internally with the main hall, a useful clue to its unusual purpose-built pedigree.

An Olympic annex headed for its second act

The Club began in 1990 as the Palau Sant Jordi’s annex, conceived for the Barcelona 1992 Olympics and designed by Japanese architect Arata Isozaki. Opened on September 21, 1990, the annex’s original job was athlete training; its independent use for concerts and medium-format events gave the space its later identity.

A far larger change arrived on July 15, 2026, when Barcelona selected Bruther and Jorge Vidal Studio to redesign the venue. The city’s plan schedules demolition of the current Club for July 2027 and a 2029 opening for a purpose-designed live-music hall. The replacement is planned for flexible configurations of 3,500 to 9,000 people, with fixed and retractable seating, movable chairs, and standing-room setups.

The room today

Concerts account for seven in ten events across the Palau Sant Jordi and Sant Jordi Club during the past decade, supported by relationships with over 40 local and international promoters. The Club’s calendar spans rock, alternative, indie, pop, Latin, metal, hip-hop, and R&B. Inside, the current room pairs a largely standing floor with a 244-seat fixed grandstand that has independent access; its 2,900-square-metre footprint suits audiences seeking arena-grade production in a compact, floor-led setting.
