Sala Laut

Sala Laut is a roughly 200-capacity, 245-square-metre room in Barcelona’s Poble-sec, built for proximity: a former carpentry workshop repurposed as a club. Its small scale is paired with a latest-generation sound system, giving detail-heavy sets and full-volume club music the same close-range impact. The venue sits near Paral·lel, where Poble-sec, Raval and Sant Antoni meet.

A workshop becomes a club room

Laut opened on January 27, 2017, created from that converted workshop with electronic music and intimate clubbing at its centre. Its first night was a Lapsus Festival pre-party led by British ambient producer Pye Corner Audio, the project of Martin Jenkins, followed by Lapsus DJs. The choice set out the room’s initial character clearly: a club-format space introduced through a bill rooted in Barcelona’s electronic network, with an artist whose work moved between atmospheric electronics and a more rhythmic live set.

Early coverage described a programme balancing local and international artists, including avant-garde electronic sessions. Laut later established Laut Concert, making the room available to concert promoters; proposals go to the programmer, who selects projects suited to the venue’s line. That arrangement gives the calendar two lanes: a dedicated late-night club identity and a flexible live-music use for independently promoted bills.

The room now

Electronic music remains the core proposition, while concert nights widen the palette to folk, Latin, indie, pop, alternative, rock and hip-hop. Club hours run on Friday and Saturday nights from midnight to 5 a.m., with holiday-eve sessions announced through the programme. Expect a compact standing room, about 245 square metres and around 200 people, with the sound system and floor-level closeness defining the experience.
