Sala La Nau

Sala La Nau is a 350-capacity concert venue in Barcelona’s Poblenou district, built into a wider music-creation complex. Its defining feature is the working-musician setup around the stage: six backline-equipped rehearsal rooms sit within a 750-square-metre facility that also includes recording and artistic-training spaces. For a showgoer, that gives the room a direct connection to bands preparing, recording and then playing live in the same building.

A rehearsal hub became a concert room

La Nau’s present-day concert identity took shape after a renovation and technical refit. The venue reopened in November 2017, while music-services company Menos Que Cero dates the independent concert room’s launch to 7 November 2017. Its role went beyond a fresh coat of paint: Menos Que Cero says it proposed expanding the existing rehearsal-and-recording offer with a technically equipped live space, then supplied technical resources, artistic programming, promoter outreach, communications and sponsorship work.

That conversion built on La Nau’s earlier life as a Poblenou rehearsal complex and recording base. In a December 2017 report, Time Out identified Joan Manuel Serrat, The Jesus and Mary Chain and flamenco guitarist Chicuelo among artists who had prepared festivals or tours there. The strongest story here lies in that practical continuity: a place used to make music gained a dedicated public-facing stage, while retaining the rooms and studio that had drawn artists in the first place.

The room today

Programming runs through a mix of direct listings and promoter presentations: the current calendar carries bills presented by Piñata, Houston Party, Primavera Tours and PPL United. Rock, indie, alternative and pop share space with Latin-rooted shows, jazz, R&B, folk-adjacent projects and acoustic sets. Inside, the concert hall is an open 160-square-metre room with a 4-by-8-metre stage, professional sound and lighting, plus a café-bar for pre-show drinks and snacks. The result is a focused, functional club-scale setting built for full-band shows.
