About Sala 2 Razzmatazz

Sala 2 Razzmatazz is a 940-capacity concert room in Barcelona’s Poblenou district, reached via the Pamplona Street side of the wider Razzmatazz complex. Also associated with The Loft, it occupies a distinct place inside a five-stage operation: a large, open 400-square-metre floor beneath a six-metre ceiling, built for a club crowd while retaining full-scale concert production. That industrial volume is the room’s clearest calling card.

A room born from a reset

The story starts with Zeleste, the Barcelona music venue founded by Víctor Jou in 1973 and relocated to Poblenou in 1986. The later Razzmatazz site occupies two mid-century industrial buildings: an engine-manufacturing plant and a textile-processing warehouse, adapted for cultural use during the late 1980s. Zeleste’s financial crisis brought a closure in October 2000; Tiger Bay negotiated fresh leases and prepared the building for a new chapter under the Razzmatazz name.

That chapter opened on December 14, 2000, when The Flaming Lips inaugurated Razzmatazz. Three years later, Rooms 2 and 3 joined the shared five-room admission system for club nights, connecting Sala 2’s separate Pamplona entrance with the larger complex’s multi-room identity. The result is a room with its own scale and backstage infrastructure, plus a history inseparable from a venue-wide reinvention.

The room and its programme

Sala 2 works as a flexible live and club space within Razzmatazz’s broad booking mix, which centers indie pop, alternative rock and electronic music while also accommodating pop, rock, hip-hop, metal and Latin bills. The stage measures 60 square metres, and the room carries professional sound, lighting and visual systems alongside dressing rooms, a production office and freight-elevator access. Expect a single open floor and tall ceiling instead of a seated-theatre layout; Sala 3 can also serve as an adjacent VIP, chill-out or overflow area for selected events.
