Otto Zutz

Otto Zutz is a Barcelona club venue with a listed maximum capacity of 1,000. Its defining feature is the setting: a former textile factory on Carrer de Lincoln, remade as three levels of concrete, ironwork and dance floors. For a showgoer, the draw is a large, club-first room whose atmosphere comes from its industrial shell and a floorplan designed to separate crowds, DJs and sounds.

A factory name with a local backstory

Otto Zutz opened in June 1985 in the old textile factory at Lincoln 15. The owners of nearby club Zig-zag had bought the building and chose the name of Otto Zutz, a German optician whose shop had stood beside Zig-zag; he had no business connection to either club. That small piece of neighborhood history gives the venue a far stranger origin than its New York-influenced industrial styling suggests.

The original venue had two floors and mezzanines. In 1992, amid Barcelona’s Olympic-era economic lift, the club added a third floor, Los Altos, as a private upper-level space. Interior designer Klea Levin later reshaped parts of the club in 2005, including the restricted-access Hyde VIP on the third floor. Those additions made vertical movement part of the night: dance floor below, sightline from a mezzanine, private rooms above.

Three rooms, split sounds

Current programming centers DJ-led nightlife and recurring branded parties, with hip-hop, R&B, reggaetón, house, perreo and hits spread across separate rooms. Friday listings advertise two rooms and two atmospheres; Saturday’s La Casita format puts hits and reggaetón in one room, with house, perreo and throwback reggaetón in another. The club also markets its spaces for private parties and corporate events, while VIP-table service remains a core part of the setup. Main Floor sits at ground level with two bars and a mezzanine offering a broad view of the dance floor.
