Moog Club

Moog Club is a roughly 700-capacity, two-room late-night venue in Barcelona’s Raval, built around a main electronic dancefloor and the upstairs VillaRosa room. Its distinguishing feature is the address: the club occupies the former Villa Rosa, a flamenco tablao whose past still shapes the second room’s name and contrasting soundtrack. A night here places a focused techno-and-house floor beneath an upstairs mix of pop, rock and dance.

A tablao becomes a dancefloor

Villa Rosa began in 1916, when guitarist Miguel Borrull Catelló transformed the Casa Macià café at Arc del Teatre 3 into a tablao decorated with arabesques and bullfighting paintings. The Borrull family ran a room for flamenco ensembles and tourist-facing parties; Villa Rosa closed in 1996, after which Mas i Mas acquired the site for Moog. Moog dates its opening as the Moog Electronic Dancing Club to June 21, 1996, immediately after an early Sónar edition, with DJ Loe as its initial artistic director. The operator records July 1998 as the point when it took control of the former Villarosa and set its brief around techno, house, live sessions, creativity and experimentation. For its 30th anniversary, Sónar and Moog co-curated four nights from June 18–21, 2026 with Angel Molina; Luke Slater, Reeko and Kenya Arakama closed the series.

Two rooms, one ticket

The main room programs resident DJs alongside visiting international and emerging artists, with techno and house anchoring the schedule. VillaRosa sits upstairs and plays pop, electropop, 1970s–90s rock and dance, giving the same night two distinct musical settings. The layout stays dancefloor-first, supported by a bar and cloakroom; adapted access, an accessible bathroom and a small designated viewing area are also available. Moog runs from midnight into the early morning every day, with an open music-focused format free of VIP zones and private-party packages.
