About Guzzo

Guzzo is a capacity-unlisted, dinner-first concert room in Barcelona’s El Born, pairing live sets with Mediterranean food and daily DJ programming. Its clearest distinguishing detail comes from its foundation: DJ and promoter Fred Guzzo turned a former Barclays bank opposite the Born Market into a restaurant, music club and art space in 2014. Shows unfold as part of an evening at the table, with cocktails, food and a close-in performance atmosphere.

A bank becomes a cultural room

Guzzo opened in 2014, according to the venue, and Time Out identified its founder as veteran promoter and DJ Fred Guzzo. The former bank conversion supplied the project with a sharp premise: a commercial office became a place for food, records, concerts and street-art display. That mix appeared immediately in the venue’s programming. Guzzo’s own retrospective says its central mural received its first intervention in 2014 through the Guzzo Family, leading to the St.ART Guzzo competition for illustration, photography and audiovisual work. In 2017, artist Jorge Rodríguez-Gerada’s participatory work “Recordar” spread across a large area of Plaça Comercial. Those moments frame Guzzo as a restaurant-club whose music calendar sits inside a wider visual-art program.

Dinner sets, then DJs

The booking model is built around short-form, accessible nightly entertainment: Guzzo advertises dinner concerts seven days a week and DJ sets every day, with free concert entry for diners and a €10 first-drink charge for other guests. Jazz, soul, funk, Brazilian, Latin and Afro-rooted selections form the core DJ palette, alongside live jazz, bossa nova, tango, flamenco and Cuban music. The room’s central mural, industrial-meets-home interior and dedicated cocktail bar give the seated setup its character; capacity remains unlisted publicly.
