About Garcia's
Garcia’s is Chicago’s 300-capacity West Loop concert room and restaurant, created with the Garcia family and promoter Peter Shapiro as a tribute to Jerry Garcia. Its distinguishing trick is the way a show unfolds around cabaret tables: premium seats sit closest to the stage, while elevated general-admission space skirts the sides with bar access. It gives an audience both table service and a place to stand, placing the music in a compact, dinner-ready room.
Six years from plan to opening night
In May 2019, Shapiro and Jerry Garcia’s estate announced a West Loop venue inside the former Wishbone restaurant, with an early-2020 target. The pandemic placed the venture’s future in doubt and pushed the plan off course. Garcia’s finally opened on March 21, 2025, six years after its announcement, as a project of Shapiro’s Dayglo Presents and the Garcia family. Its first night brought Grahame Lesh & Friends to the stage, a fitting choice for a room built around the Grateful Dead guitarist’s legacy. The long gap matters because this is a newly made venue with a long gestation, shaped to connect a restaurant floor to a concert audience.
The room today
Booking inquiries go directly to the venue, while its programming has been framed around a broad New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival-style spread: jazz, jam, bluegrass, and world music alongside touring acts. Choose tickets by how you want to experience a set. Premium and reserved tickets place guests at cabaret-style shared tables with service; booths hold groups of up to six. General-admission standing room runs along the elevated sides, designed for viewing and easy access to the bar.
