Masada Nightclub

Masada Nightclub is a Logan Square dance venue in Chicago with an unlisted capacity, built around an indoor floor, patio, and retractable rooftop. Its defining feature is the route from club room to open air: a 100,000-watt Pineapple Audio system and custom LED ceiling anchor the inside, while grapevines, lanterns, and a pergola shape the roof deck. It suits DJ-led nights whose social energy can move between rooms.

A decade in the making

Masada began as Shadi Ramli’s conversion of a regular three-flat at 2206 North California: apartments occupied the upper levels, with a real-estate office and basement below. Ramli bought the building in 2004 and rebuilt it gradually with family funds, creating a Middle Eastern restaurant, lounge, dance floor, patio, and three bars. The project gathered attention during a roughly decade-long construction period, including a 2014 neighborhood dispute over a proposed 17,000-square-foot parking lot across the street.

The Ramli family, behind Sultan’s Market, opened Masada on June 25, 2014. Its first form paired Middle Eastern dining with live music and entertainment in the subterranean lounge. By June 2015, the rooftop had joined the project’s public-facing spaces, completing the vertical layout that shapes the venue’s current club identity.

The room now

Masada programs weekly house sessions, Afrobeats Fridays and Saturdays, electronic showcases, rooftop events, guest-DJ bills, and cultural gatherings; it also welcomes local and international DJs alongside private celebrations. House, techno, Afrobeats, Amapiano, dancehall, R&B, and Latin-leaning global sets form the core. Expect a dance floor, lounge and bar downstairs, plus a multi-level patio and roof deck above. The roof favors daytime and sunset gatherings; the indoor room carries the heavier late-night push.
