About The Music Village
The Music Village is a 100-seat Brussels jazz club whose compact scale puts performers and listeners in close range. Its defining detail is the setting: live music unfolds in 17th-century premises a few metres from the Grand-Place, with a programme exceeding 300 concerts a year. The result is a dedicated listening room with the pace of a busy city-centre club, shaped around jazz yet broad enough for Afro, Brazilian, Cuban and gypsy-jazz currents.
A club built for the nightly set
Paul Huygens founded The Music Village, opening its doors on September 1, 2000. The early premise was clear: a purpose-made club presentation inside historic central-Brussels surroundings, with stage, sound, lighting, food and drink all part of the evening. That combination gave the venue a regular home for Belgian players alongside visiting European and international musicians.
Its first quarter-century supplied a useful marker. On September 5, 2025, the club held its 25th-anniversary concert as a tribute to Huygens. Following his death, his wife Lucie Saeys continued the venue’s work, making the anniversary a handover point as well as a birthday show. The club’s own tally places its output since opening at over 6,000 concerts, evidence of a venue built around repetition and repertoire instead of occasional events.
The room now
Expect a seated 100-capacity room, a focused stage presentation and a bar that also serves hot and cold food from 7:30 p.m., including during concerts. The weekly booking policy leans hard into jazz and adjacent forms: fusion, blues, rhythm and blues, New Orleans, funk, Afro, Brazilian, Cuban and gypsy jazz all appear in its stated remit. Tuesday jazz jams welcome young local and international musicians; Wednesdays carry summer jams, while the rest of the year gives a rising artist Carte Blanche. The club is open to all, with membership offering concert-price reductions.
