Dee Why RSL Club

Dee Why RSL Club in Sydney’s Dee Why is listed at 700 capacity, giving touring bills a substantial Northern Beaches stop outside the CBD. Its concert room, the Showroom, is a two-tiered space built around a stage and dance floor, with a private bar and dressing rooms. The draw is scale within a full-service club setting: a rock bill can sit beside a polished pop revue on the program.

The Luana Hall inheritance

The Dee Why-Collaroy Sub-Branch of the RSL formed in July 1937 in a hired Pittwater Road room. By October it had shifted its meetings to Luana Hall; the licensed Dee Why RSL came into official existence in 1947, and the sub-branch completed its purchase of the hall for £6,000 in 1948. That sequence gives the venue a specific origin in returned-service community activity, dances and fundraising, before the present-day club complex took shape.

A later turning point arrived through a major redevelopment application. Dee Why RSL lodged plans on 22 March 2017 for demolition and redevelopment of part of the registered club, with works estimated at $51,482,500. The Sydney North Planning Panel approved the proposal on 31 July 2017; a modification to that consent received approval on 13 June 2018. Planning records place the current entertainment spaces within that wider remaking of the site.

The room today

Concert booking sits alongside bingo, trivia and community events. The program spans rock, indie, pop, electronic and R&B, with Baby Animals, Abbalanche, Voxneon and an R&B Takeover appearing in 2026 listings; tribute productions also form a strong strand. Age settings vary by bill: the Elvis: An American Trilogy Showroom listing carries an 18+ label, while a 2023 Lime Cordiale date was listed as all ages. For giggoers, expect a two-tiered room with stage, inbuilt dance floor, sound and lighting systems, dressing rooms and a private bar; the adjacent Lounge can operate as a pre-function space.
