About Club Room
Club Room is Soho Grand Hotel’s 150-person live-music lounge in SoHo, New York City. Its distinguishing feature is a split personality built into the evening: seated supper-club performances occupy the early hours, then DJs take the room into a dance-floor mode after 10 p.m. The space covers 1,302 square feet, giving shows the close range of a cocktail bar while leaving room for a small stage-led crowd.
A gallery turned into a lounge
The Club Room’s roots run through the hotel around it. Leonard and Emanuel Stern of Hartz Mountain Industries developed Soho Grand on the West Broadway site of a former church; the hotel opened on August 4, 1996, with interiors shaped by designer Bill Sofield. In March 2010, Soho Grand began converting part of its Gallery area beside the staircase into a new lounge, with a wall separating the space and a former closet door becoming its entrance. By September 20, 2010, Club Room had opened as the hotel’s plush, furnished nightspot. That origin explains its scale: this is a purpose-built hotel lounge adapted from an art space, designed for a tightly framed night out instead of a full concert-hall experience.
How the night works
Club Room books vocalists, pianists and small jazz-oriented acts, with current programming also drawing on soul and R&B textures. Dinner-and-music reservations shape the early evening: guests choose the Parlor for the supper menu or the Bar Room for cocktails and lighter food. Live sets run 7:30–8:30 p.m. and 9–10 p.m., then DJs and dancing begin. The two-room plan offers a main stage in the Parlor plus a separate bar area; the Parlor’s disco ball and mirrored ceiling make the later shift feel intentional.
