About The End

The End is a 300-capacity Nashville club on Elliston Place, built for close-range shows across rock, punk, metal, hip-hop and songwriter bills. Its distinguishing feature is right in the room: band names painted in glow-in-the-dark lettering across cinderblock walls, with staples from decades of posters gathered behind the bar. Bruce Fitzpatrick runs the place as owner, booker, bartender and janitor, giving the venue a singularly hands-on character.

A room with several former lives

The address began as Amy’s, a dive bar and pool hall, before a change of hands turned it into Elliston Square. Bruce Fitzpatrick had entered Nashville’s club world around 1980, including work booking and managing Exit/In; in 1999, he reopened Elliston Square under the name The End. The venue’s history therefore joins an earlier Elliston Place barroom to Fitzpatrick’s long-running independent operation.

One strong marker came in 2001, when The White Stripes made their first Nashville visit at The End. A later crisis arrived on January 8, 2026, when Fitzpatrick sought $25,000 to cover rent arrears after the venue’s worst financial year of his 27-year tenure. The target was reached within hours through over 500 donations, keeping the room open while underscoring the thin margins of a small independent club.

The room today

The End books local, regional and national artists directly, with artists and promoters routed to the venue by phone or email. Its calendar ranges from loud rock-oriented bills to writer’s rounds and emerging hip-hop showcases; most events carry an 18+ policy, while selected dates admit all ages. Expect a compact bar-club setting: a 300-person room, cinderblock walls carrying its gig history, and little distance between audience and performers.
