About The Glove That Fits

The Glove That Fits is a 120-capacity venue in Hackney, London, built around an 80-person basement event room beneath an upstairs bar and café. That compressed, two-level setup is its calling card: artists and audience share a low-ceilinged dancefloor at close range, with a d&b audiotechnik system built for club weight inside a small footprint. It suits listeners who want the booth, performers and crowd in one concentrated space.

A Pub Conversion, Then a Late-Night Shift

The building is a reconverted pub, according to a location listing, and its present chapter began on March 9, 2018. The team behind former Hackney Wick venue Shapes launched The Glove That Fits across its bar-café and basement levels; Dimensions Festival co-hosted the opening night, built around Kerem Akdag’s label release. The first programme already set out the mix: club events, live music, spoken word and radio broadcasts, with the venue presenting an artist-led platform for experimentation.

February 2026 marked a material change in the room’s operating life. Founder Seb Glover announced a late-night licence that allows Friday and Saturday events until 4am and Thursday parties until 2am. The same update brought a rebuilt DJ booth, altered room layout, refreshed lighting and tuned-up custom d&b rig, giving this small basement a newly configured late-session focus.

The Room Today

The Glove That Fits describes itself as a multi-purpose creative space, bar and club, with a programme spanning experimental, left-field, electronic, performance, installation and dance work. Its booking approach leaves room for DJs, live acts, installations and artist-led formats, so genre is a guide instead of a boundary. Expect a basement built for proximity and volume, plus the adjoining Gloves Off open-air sister venue for daytime parties, food and drinks during summer programming.
