About The Carpet Shop

The Carpet Shop is a 350-capacity club in Peckham, London, tucked into Arch 164 on Rye Lane. Its defining feature is the split personality: a compact, hard-sounding late-night room beneath the railway and a courtyard used for daytime parties in summer. The venue comes from the team behind Corsica Studios, bringing a DIY-scale setting and underground dance programming to one of south London’s busiest high streets.

A licence battle under the arches

The Carpet Shop emerged in 2022, when Corsica Studios began presenting music events at Arches 164–166 behind 115 Rye Lane. Its early run operated through temporary event notices, with documented capacities ranging from 200 to 350 people between February and July 2022. That autumn, Corsica sought a full premises licence covering live and recorded music, dance, films, alcohol and late-night refreshment, with Friday and Saturday activity proposed until 6am.

The strongest early chapter came with that licence process. Southwark’s environmental protection team recorded complaints from May and July 2022, including bass heard in nearby homes; officers asked management to reduce levels by 4dB after one visit and sought a noise assessment during the licence application. The paper trail gives the venue’s first year a clear shape: a new club testing its sound and late-night operation in a densely residential part of Peckham.

Inside the current setup

Expect promoter-led bookings across house, bass, garage, electro, disco and other left-field club music, alongside the packet’s wider mix of R&B, jazz, Latin, folk and indie bills. The core room is small, functional and focused on the system, suited to close-quarters DJ sets instead of a stage-forward concert experience. In warm weather, the courtyard opens for free-entry daytime programming before ticketed club sets take over at night; a 2025 Phonica event ran exactly that format.
