About 93 Feet East

93 Feet East is a London venue listed for 1,150 standing guests, spread across six meeting and event spaces. Its distinguishing feature is the former Truman Brewery setting: this is a venue complex with enough internal variety for a band room, a club-focused dancefloor and side spaces to coexist on one bill. The current calendar moves across indie, rock, electronic music, pop, R&B and jazz, with promoter-led takeovers sitting alongside individual artist shows.

A brewery-site venue shaped by a licensing flashpoint

The company behind 93 Feet East was incorporated on 16 August 1999, and Tower Hamlets licensing papers place the venue’s opening in 2000. Those records identify Ofer Zeloof as sole director and owner of 93 Feet East Ltd; the Zeloof family also owned the Truman Brewery site. Brick Lane histories place 93 Feet East among the late-1990s club venues created on the old brewery complex, a shift that turned industrial premises into nightlife and cultural space.

Its sharpest documented chapter came in December 2012. Following arrests at the premises on 7 December, the Metropolitan Police sought a licence review; on 12 December the council suspended the premises licence and removed the designated premises supervisor pending a full hearing. Within days, the licensee and police had agreed interim measures including a new security firm, ID scanning, a drug policy and one SIA-accredited guard for every 45 customers. The paper trail gives the room a harder-edged history than its Brick Lane party image suggests.

How the room works now

For a showgoer, 93 Feet East reads as a flexible, promoter-friendly complex instead of a single-purpose concert hall. Expect changing formats: emerging-band showcases, DJ and dance events, branded pre-parties, jazz presentations and genre-crossing club bills. The practical advantage is choice of atmosphere within the building. The Live Bar has served as the band room and weekend dancefloor, while the main bar, smaller side rooms and cobbled courtyard create places to reset between sets. Current venue listings also describe outdoor space, multiple bars and dedicated lighting facilities.
