Trixxo Theater

Trixxo Theater is Hasselt’s mid-sized stage room at Park H, with capacity for up to 3,000 people. Its defining feature is architectural: the venue grew out of Hall 4 of the former Grenslandhallen exhibition complex, retaining its original stage section and 17-metre-high theatre tower while gaining a fixed grandstand. That gives concertgoers a theatre-first setting within the same campus as the far larger Trixxo Arena.

An exhibition hall becomes a concert room

The larger Grenslandhallen site opened on 13 May 1983, built by the City of Hasselt at Unizo Hasselt’s request as a regional trade-fair complex. In 2002, Hall 4 became a Congrestheater through a project with Studio 100: a theatre tower, meeting rooms and dressing rooms turned the exhibition space into a place for congresses, musicals and concerts.

A financial reset changed the site’s direction a decade later. In September 2011, the Grenslandhallen association and Hasselt announced that Antwerp Sportpaleis would take operational control on 1 January 2012; the operator took on staff, movable assets and existing agreements under a leasehold running to 22 January 2039. During summer 2013, the former Congrestheater received its decisive rebuild: part of Hall 4 came down, a 2,300-square-metre extension and fixed tribune structure went up, and the independent Trixxo Theater emerged with its own entrance, new stairwells, dressing rooms and sanitary facilities.

The room today

Trixxo Theater books a wide, seated-show bill: pop and rock concerts sit alongside orchestral programmes, tribute productions, musicals, family shows and stand-up. The official programme currently foregrounds artists such as Laura Tesoro and Bagjan Oktyabr alongside comedy, dance and musical titles. For a gig, expect the clear stage focus of a conventional theatre, fixed grandstand seating, a preserved theatre tower and separate venue access—useful traits for listeners who value a structured, seat-based concert experience.
