About Lost Lake
Lost Lake is a 150-person Denver club built for close-range sets: its key distinction is a two-room arrangement with a stage and sound system in each space. The compact scale keeps performers, crowd, and bar within the same small footprint, while the split layout gives DJ-led events and band shows distinct places to land. It is a useful room for catching local artists and smaller touring acts before their next capacity jump.
A Colfax bar turned concert room
Lost Lake opened on March 5, 2010, when hi-dive and Sputnik co-owner Matt LaBarge converted the former Bulldog Bar into a cabin-styled lounge. The address had already carried a long nightlife lineage: the Alamo opened there as Denver’s first piano bar in the early 1940s, followed by Mr. Von’s Alamo, the Monroe Tavern, and the Bulldog. LaBarge’s launch brought live music back into the room, initially alongside piano-bar nights and monthly Thursday residencies.
The decisive shift came late in 2013, when Larimer Lounge owner and AEG talent buyer Scott Campbell bought Lost Lake. A 2014 rebuild removed the drop ceiling, added a purpose-built back-room stage, monitors, speaker cabinets, subwoofers, soundproofing, and a second stage with its own sound system in the front bar. That conversion gave the modest bar a concert-ready identity while retaining its low-lit, wood-lined lounge character.
The room today
Lost Lake’s programming spans rock, alternative, indie, metal, electronic, pop, R&B, and country, with a practical focus on developing Denver acts and smaller tours. Shows are often all ages; guests under sixteen generally attend with a ticketed parent or legal guardian. For artists, the booking form asks that every band member be 21 or older and requests genre, music links, and Denver draw. Expect two compact rooms, two stages, a front-room bar, and a short sightline between audience and performers.
