Larimer Lounge

Larimer Lounge is a 300-capacity concert club in Denver’s RiNo district, with an independent-venue lineage reaching back to December 2002. Its calling card is proximity: touring acts and local performers play a compact room before a crowd small enough for the bar, stage and patio to feel part of one evening. The venue pairs its long-running indie identity with DJ-driven and electronic programming, plus an outdoor patio that became central to its survival during the pandemic era.

A club before the block changed

Scott Campbell opened Larimer Lounge in December 2002, when the 2721 Larimer Street block had few storefront businesses and the venue was the only room offering live music in its stretch of the neighborhood. Campbell came to the project after six years as talent buyer at 15th Street Tavern; Gwen Campbell later recalled building Larimer’s bar from scratch, choosing its stock from her bartending experience. The club began as an indie-rock venue and a destination for specific bills, with a 250-person capacity reported at its fifteenth anniversary in 2018.

A defining recent chapter arrived in 2020. After COVID-19 shutdowns silenced concerts, Larimer Lounge reopened for drinks and Globe Hall barbecue on May 28, while live music remained on pause. Gwen Campbell told Denverite in 2022 that the block’s temporary outdoor dining space and patios were a lifeline through the period of indoor-concert and bar restrictions. Those episodes explain why the patio carries weight here beyond a spillover smoking area.

The room now

Expect a flexible small-club schedule: the official calendar mixes DJ nights, electronic showcases, indie performers and touring artists, with individual events carrying their own age policies. The venue accepts booking inquiries through its club booking form, a signal of an active local-bill pipeline alongside national routing. Inside, recent sound and lighting upgrades support concert volume; two garage-door windows open toward the patio, giving the room an airy release between sets. Sightlines come from the floor-level club format, so arriving early pays off for a spot near the stage.
