Friday 25 September: Tanhai Collective’s analogue-minded groove

Friday’s 11.15pm entry is billed in the CrowdMate calendar under trumpeter Walter Feeney, with Tanhai Collective supplying the full six-piece: Feeney, saxophonist Tom McCann, guitarist Louis Hudd, keyboard player Billy Hare, bassist Sravhud Tanhai and drummer Ben Harper. Ronnie’s describes the group’s language as classic soul jazz and jazz-funk shaped by post-rock atmosphere, with a stated affection for the warmth of 1970s production. Their latest album, Circa 2019, was recorded live with an analogue-minded approach, a detail that fits the live-room emphasis of this programme.
