About Haswell Green's
Haswell Green’s is a bi-level live-music bar and restaurant in New York City’s Theater District, with a 300-person street-level main floor. Its defining feature is the combination of a nightly-performance stage and a 360-degree central bar: this is a compact, social room designed around music, drinks, and a crowd that stays involved with the show. The dedicated stage area holds up to 120 guests.
A Civic Name Above a Nightly Stage
Haswell Green’s opened in summer 2018 as a bi-level watering hole, restaurant, and music venue. Its name reaches back to Andrew Haswell Green, the city planner and reformer associated with Greater New York’s 1898 consolidation and with projects including Central Park, the New York Public Library, and the American Museum of Natural History. Green was killed outside his Park Avenue home in 1903, in a mistaken-identity shooting. That unlikely connection gave the bar a specific historical frame when Manhattan Borough Historian Michael Miscione profiled it on June 6, 2019: a contemporary performance room carrying the name of a civic figure whose work helped shape the city around it.
Requests, Pianos, and a 360 Bar
The house books recurring, audience-facing entertainment seven nights a week: live-band karaoke on Mondays, a Wednesday request show, rock-and-soul covers on Thursdays, dueling pianos on Fridays and Saturdays, piano brunch on weekends, plus Sunday band sets. That schedule favors pop, rock, soul, requests, sing-alongs, and broad-cover repertoires over touring-act bills. Friday and Saturday evening entry comes with a $50 food-and-beverage minimum beginning at 8 p.m. For the clearest focus on the performers, the stage area pairs its large stage and massive bar with an open layout, AV, lighting, and large screens.
