About Edelfettwerk
Edelfettwerk in Hamburg’s Eidelstedt district is a multi-room concert and party complex with capacity for up to 2,500 people across the site. Its clearest calling card in 2026 is the BackYard’s new 360-degree outdoor stage: a circular focal point for festival-scale sets, with room for 1,400 guests. The core indoor hall sits inside the old warehouse, while beach-club space pushes summer shows outside.
A fats factory, remade for dance floors
The site began as a factory producing hard and refined fats in the 1930s. Once production ended, the industrial plant was cleared out and its working rooms were remade as lounges, dance floors and open space. Edelfettwerk opened as an event centre by March 2004, retaining the protected building’s industrial plan through its renovation. The initial offer already split the building into the Orange Lounge, Green Lounge, hall, tower and Lab, designed for crowds from 100 to 1,200.
The conversion leaves practical traces: the main hall occupies the former warehouse; its tall central volume and side aisles give the room a nave-like shape. In May 2026, Edelfettwerk added a purpose-built 360-degree stage to the BackYard, framing the latest shift toward outdoor festivals, concerts and large club events.
An expandable, electronic-leaning campus
Shows skew electronic, though the site’s rental model also accommodates concerts, festivals, corporate functions, trade events and galas. The Saal runs from 240 to 640 square metres thanks to a sliding glass wall, holding 1,200 standing; doors open straight to the BeachClub. Expect a large-room experience with a stage, DJ equipment, substantial lighting and a 200-square-metre LED matrix. Smaller rooms support split bills and secondary dance floors; Kosmos, for example, holds 80 and pairs its checkerboard floor with a disco ball.
