Cascadas

Cascadas is a 200-capacity live club in central Hamburg, near the Binnenalster. Its distinguishing feature is scale: a 120-square-metre room designed to put performers and audience in close contact, shifting between seated concerts, standing shows and dance-floor events. The club is run by singers Claudia Vásquez and Kristina Kasat, whose idea grew from visits to live-music bars in South America. [1, 2, 3]

Two singers, one change of course

Vásquez and Kasat developed their live-club concept in 2008, seeking a central room with a large frontage near the water. They found the Ferdinandstraße space after several years; it had previously housed no hospitality business, so a change-of-use application, acoustic work and official approvals came before opening. Cascadas opened in April 2014. [1, 4]

The first format aimed for daily live music with free admission alongside a conventional bar operation. By the end of 2014, the founders shifted course: Cascadas became a dedicated live club and began working with outside promoters. The room and the bill

Expect a flexible, close-quarters room with a stage, professional PA and projection screen. Capacity ranges from 90 seated guests plus 30 standing to roughly 150–200 standing, so sightlines and atmosphere favor small-format shows. Programming centers on funk, soul, hip-hop, indie and world music, with singer-songwriters, DJs and dance events spanning salsa, electronic music and Silent Disco. Around 200 concerts a year arrive via promoter collaborations, while the space also hosts private hires and showcases. [1, 2, 3]
