About Bar Italia
Bar Italia is a 70-capacity live-music restaurant and wine bar in Hamburg’s Eppendorf district. Its defining feature is scale: concerts happen in the Klosterhof Passage courtyard setting, with guests seated close to the players while dinner and wine service continue. The operation presents five shows each week and says its programme has passed 1,000 concerts, placing polished local players, music students and established performers in the same intimate frame.
A restaurant finds its bandstand
Wilfried Lottmann opened Bar Italia in 2006 as an Italian bar on Eppendorfer Landstraße, then added live events to the food-and-drink operation. That decision became the venue’s central identity: current operator Fee Wilhelmi, Lottmann’s daughter, took over management and put greater weight on music programming. The handover made a family-run restaurant into a steady, small-scale performance room, with a stated aim of bringing audiences close to musicians. On July 18, 2026, Bar Italia marked its 20th anniversary with a free celebration built around live music. The anniversary coverage also records repeat appearances by Orange Blue singer Volkan Baydar and Weather Girls vocalist Danelle Rhymes, useful evidence of a room where artists return for the direct audience contact.
Dinner-table listening
Expect a seated, restaurant-led show experience instead of a late-night standing club. Bar Italia has 35 indoor seats and a 40-seat terrace, so the room suits attentive listening, a meal, and conversation between sets. Its weekly rhythm gives each night a lane: Latin on Tuesdays, an open stage on Wednesdays, Black music on Thursdays, then soul, funk, R&B, fusion, vocal music and jazz across Friday and Saturday. Live music runs Tuesday through Saturday, 6–9 p.m.; Mediterranean cooking and Italian wine remain part of the format.
