About Wilde Renate

Renate, still widely called Wilde Renate, is a Berlin-Friedrichshain club in a former tenement at Alt-Stralau 70. The German Music Information Centre places it in the 1,001–2,000-person venue band. Its defining feature is circulation: a maze of rooms replaces the single-room concert-hall model, letting a night unfold across separately designed floors and a garden. That setup suits DJs and live electronic acts whose sets reward wandering.

A lease reprieve and a new chapter

Renate began in 2007 as Salon zur Wilden Renate, operating inside the former tenement building that still houses it. In August 2024, the club announced that its lease would end in 2025, putting the Alt-Stralau site’s future in doubt. The turnaround arrived on December 15, 2025: after renewed negotiations, Renate secured a fresh ten-year rental contract, formed a new operating company and paused after New Year’s Eve for renewal work. A partial weekend return followed in January 2026, and the club marked its full reopening in April. The subsequent renovation reshaped the dance floor into an L, opening added room for movement and changing the flow through the club.

A room built for roaming

Renate programs the full spectrum of dance music, with an expressed focus on local talent and artists bringing fresh sounds or experiences to Berlin. Its regular club schedule runs Thursday through Saturday, typically 11 p.m. to 9 a.m., with external events following their own hours. Expect techno and electronic music across decorated, multi-floor spaces; Berlin.de singles out the Absinthe Room and a garden whose trees hold a suspended boat. Renate’s published entry policy leaves final admission to the house team, including for people holding advance tickets.
