Weekend Club

Weekend Club sits above Alexanderplatz in Berlin, with capacity unlisted in its public venue materials. Its defining feature is the height: the club occupies the 15th floor of the former Haus des Reisens, with a rooftop above it facing the Fernsehturm and central Berlin skyline. Expect a DJ-party venue with room to move between indoor dancefloor, loft and terrace, especially during summer sessions.

A club built upward

The building began as the Haus des Reisens, a 17-storey East German travel-office block built between 1969 and 1971; Interflug, the GDR airline, held offices there. Marcus Trojan and Oskar Melzer opened Week-End in 2004 after Melzer’s F.U.N. party series, turning an office floor into a club above Alexanderplatz.

The major expansion arrived in 2007. The 15th Floor club opened in February, followed by the rooftop in June, completing a three-level conversion. Architect Thomas Baecker describes the contrast clearly: a matte-black, inward-facing club room below an outward-looking terrace, with the bar set along the railing for views across the city. The original 12th-floor Week-End ended in early 2014; House of Weekend continued summer open-air parties on the terrace, a shift that concentrated the venue’s identity around the roof.

What the room does now

Weekend’s public programme is DJ-led and wide-ranging: Fridays emphasize house, while Saturdays rotate through techno, reggaeton, hip-hop, R&B, Afro and throwback formats. The same spaces are available for private and corporate hire, so the booking model mixes club nights with event work. The main appeal remains the layout: dancefloor and bar indoors, stairs to the roof, plus a loft for larger events. VisitBerlin lists 26 speakers and a 37-metre bar with six stations; the loft adds its own bar, lighting and sound system.
