Peppi Guggenheim

Peppi Guggenheim is a 70-capacity music bar in Berlin-Neukölln, opened in 2009 and programmed around jazz and improvised music. Its present-day distinction comes with a change of scenery: since July 31, 2026, Peppi has staged concerts in the beer garden at Berliner Berg Brauerei. That makes a Peppi show a small-scale, musician-facing booking with the option of a summer open-air setting, while the venue’s regular identity remains rooted in the Weichselstraße bar.

A 2009 bar, then a rescue effort

Peppi opened in 2009 under proprietor Georg Weishäupl, with Stefan Loth handling booking and organization; the German Music Information Centre records roughly 160 jazz concerts per year. The scale matters: the room built its program around frequent, close-quarter sets instead of occasional large bills. In July 2025, Tagesspiegel reported that a tax audit left the business facing a €60,000 repayment tied to unrecorded complimentary beer, placing the bar’s future under pressure. A staff loan, donations and a solidarity festival helped sustain it. That festival brought 20 musicians together in three specially assembled formations at Berliner Berg Brauerei, including a Berlin Master Club set with Rudi Mahall, Felix Wahnschaffe, Ben Lehmann, Flo Müller and Jan Leipnitz. The fundraising drive remains visible in Peppi’s current programming: outdoor shows at the brewery began on July 31, 2026.

The room today

Jazz and improvisation form the core, with the wider program also making room for electronic music, hip-hop, dub, funk-punk hybrids, DJs and karaoke. Artists can submit directly to Peppi’s booking email, supplying a band description, sample links, lineup and a proposed time frame. For concertgoers, expect bar-scale proximity: 70 people is the stated capacity, and the original venue is a smoking bar for guests aged 18 and above. During the current summer run, the physical frame shifts to Berliner Berg’s beer garden, with weather updates handled through Peppi’s site.
