About Paloma Bar

Paloma Bar is a compact, capacity-unlisted club above Berlin’s Kottbusser Tor. Its defining feature is the view: two dancefloors sit behind a window frontage looking across one of Kreuzberg’s busiest junctions. A 2023 rebuild moved the lower-floor DJ booth to the far end of the room, so the dancefloor now faces the windows; the club also installed a custom sound system designed for a wider range of electronic music.

A Kotti room, reshaped

Paloma’s documented public life reaches back at least to March 2010, when Time Out described a small, standing-room-heavy bar with a DJ in the corner and window seats above Kottbusser Tor. A Berlin nightlife directory dates its opening to 2012. By 2014, Paloma belonged to the Festsaal Kreuzberg operation alongside Monarch and Fahimi, in the former medical complex above the Kaiser’s supermarket. Those records place it firmly in the Kotti cluster of small independent rooms, where the route inside has always been part of the experience.

The strongest recent turning point came in summer 2023. Work on the lower floor ran from June through August, following a planning process of almost a year; new windows, lighting, a disco ball and a rebuilt DJ position changed how the floor moves and sees the street. Paloma marked the reopening with DJs including Mark Seven and Soundstream, using the upgraded system to widen the room’s stylistic reach.

What the room gives you

Paloma’s booking approach favors contrast across its two floors and leaves genre boundaries open: its booker cited bass music, technoid sets and varied DJ moods as part of the remit. Electronic music remains the center of gravity, with house, techno, electro, Italo disco and synth-pop represented in documented listings. Expect a close, standing crowd, two distinct dance spaces and the lower floor’s broad window view; the venue also offers assisted lift access and an accessible toilet.
