About Ohm

Ohm is a roughly 200-capacity club in Berlin’s Kraftwerk complex, beside Tresor at Köpenicker Straße 70. Its scale is the draw: a low-ceilinged room with a large square bar planted in the middle, framed by post-industrial walls. A 2014 account described the space as a gallery by day and an electro-and-techno club after dark, a useful shorthand for a venue where installation, performance and dance music share the bill.

A power station room finds its frequency

The larger building supplies the long story. Kraftwerk Berlin began in 1961 as the Berlin-Mitte combined heat-and-power plant, serving East Berlin with electricity and heat until 1997. After years of disuse, Dimitri Hegemann developed part of the site for Tresor in 2006; Tresor reopened there in 2007 after a 2005 departure from its Leipziger Straße home following preservation disputes.

Ohm emerged within that converted cultural complex soon after. A March 2014 report places it in a room used by the short-lived Shift project in late 2013, describing Ohm’s early proposition as a gallery-space club that favoured vinyl and other analogue performance over laptop-led sets. That detail gives the room its clearest early identity: close-quarters listening and dancing inside a site built for industrial power.

What the room delivers now

Ohm’s current programme works through resident parties, labels and collectives, creating a booking approach that gives individual series room to define the night. The official roster reaches from dub, house and jungle through UK rave, garage, grime and dubstep, alongside ambient, techno, queer nightlife, visual art and performance. Berlin’s city guide likewise identifies techno and house as the core, with regular art-facing events. Expect an intimate floor, a central-bar circulation point and a strong fit for listeners seeking electronic music beyond a single genre lane.
