Mikropol

Mikropol is a 250-capacity music and culture venue at Berlin’s Nollendorfplatz, set in a converted carriage passage beside the larger Metropol. It opened in September 2025, bringing a compact room for concerts, club nights, readings and discussion events into a site whose neighbouring theatre has carried Berlin entertainment history since 1906. For a showgoer, the draw is scale: this is the smaller, close-range counterpart to the grand hall next door.

A new room beside an old theatre

Mikropol’s immediate setting traces back to the Neues Schauspielhaus, completed in 1906 by architects Boswau & Knauer as a theatre and concert hall. Its Mozartsaal became a cinema in 1911; in 1927, Erwin Piscator reopened the theatre as the Theater am Nollendorfplatz, equipped with what the Metropol’s history calls Europe’s most modern stage of its day. Those chapters belong to the adjoining Metropol building, while Mikropol itself grew from the former carriage passage next door. It debuted during Berlin Art Week, with opening events running September 11–14, 2025. The launch programme combined live rap and punk, discussions on equality and queer visibility, and house- and rave-oriented club events, establishing a deliberately mixed cultural remit from the start.

What the room offers now

Mikropol accepts booking requests for club concerts and club events of up to 250 people, plus smaller readings and cultural events. Its programme spans live music alongside house, indie, Britpop, wave, shoegaze and post-punk DJ nights; one December 2025 event used two floors, including a basement Smiths-and-related floor. Accessibility centres on the ground-floor event room, reached by ramp and paired with an accessible toilet. The basement remains inaccessible for wheelchair users because of the building layout.
