LARK

LARK is a 190-capacity music venue and club in Berlin, set beside the Spree inside an old S-Bahn arch. Its particular draw lies in that pairing of scale and setting: a compact room with riverfront surroundings, built for close-range live sets and late-night dance floors. The space carries a 15-year lineage under earlier names, giving current shows a direct link to Berlin’s DIY concert culture of the 2010s.

A room rebuilt for the long run

The venue opened in 2010 as Marie-Antoinette, launching with a show by Sydney duo Naked on the Vague. Early gigs involved assembling and removing the PA and stage each time; the room also had a white interior and a bar without running water. A custom permanent stage and DJ booth arrived in 2013, followed by a Bordeaux-red repaint and acoustic upgrades in 2014. In 2020, during the COVID shutdown, the room became a rehearsal space for musicians and comedians. A Danley Sound Labs system followed in 2022, and the venue changed its name from Marie-Antoinette to LARK in 2023. Those practical revisions explain much of the present-day experience: this is a working club room shaped around sound, performance, and repeat use.

What the room hosts now

LARK books concerts, club nights, fundraisers, workshops, panels, and private events. Its programming draws on DIY collectives while spanning indie, experimental music, modular-synth culture, and club-focused lineups; past live artists include Deli Girls, Panda Bear, Molly Nilsson, Catnapp, and Mass of the Fermenting Dregs. Expect a smoke-free, wheelchair-accessible room with a fixed stage and DJ booth, plus the venue’s Danley system as a central part of the setup. The adjacent Fitzroy regularly joins LARK for selected two-room nights.
