Willow Lake Watering Hole & Mercantile is a live-music bar in Wimberley with room for up to 350 guests at private events. A new room with an opening-season statement
Greg McBride and Chloe Glasscock opened Willow Lake in spring 2024; a Houston Chronicle report that July described the three-month-old venture as a music-focused newcomer with multiple outdoor stages. The launch gave Wimberley a performance space alongside a bar and market area, with an emphasis on collaboration with nearby businesses. Its first Independence Day event offers a clear early snapshot: on July 4, 2024, the inaugural Freedom Party ran from noon until 10 p.m., headlined by Guy Forsyth Band and joined by Hill Country Honeys, Marvin Bottera & Friends, and DJ El Gato. Americana, classic country, folk, blues, rock, and a vinyl set shared the bill, setting a broad musical frame during Willow Lake’s first season.
The room when the music starts
The calendar pairs artist bills with participatory programming: a weekly Vinyl Potluck, open-mic nights, and Picker’s Circle sessions sit beside free evening shows. Folk, Americana, blues, country, and cover-band rock form the strongest through line. For concertgoers, the useful physical read is split-room: a cozy interior bar and retail nook for a drink or a quieter pause, then spacious indoor and outdoor gathering areas, with exterior stages handling larger music nights. Food trucks, cocktails, beer, and wine support a full evening around the set.
