Kingdom

Kingdom is a 600-capacity nightclub in downtown Austin, focused on electronic music and built around a full standing dance floor. Its current home occupies the former Ironwood Hall, an SXSW event space, and uses an alley entrance between Neches and Red River. The detail that shapes the experience is its scale: the relaunch doubled the capacity of the original Kingdom while retaining the club-first emphasis on DJs, lights, and movement.

Locked out, then relaunched

Garrett Boyd opened the first Kingdom in 2011 at 103 East Fifth Street, where the 300-capacity room programmed EDM, house, and techno artists in unusually intimate conditions. In July 2018, Kingdom and neighboring dance venue Ethics Music Lounge were locked out after their buildings changed hands; reporting at the time identified World Class Capital Group as the new landlord. The closure ended Kingdom’s first run abruptly and removed a dedicated electronic room from the city’s circuit.

Boyd returned with his brother Justin in August 2022, reopening Kingdom at 505 East Seventh Street in the Red River Cultural District. “Night One” sold out and featured surprise sets from Matthew Dear and Sharam. The relaunch also moved the club into a larger room, with lighting trusses, wall effects, LED floor strips, and a terrace overlooking the DJ booth.

A dance-floor-forward room

Kingdom’s calendar remains promoter-led as well as venue-led: current listings include Kingdom Presents bills alongside events from Innerloop, Sights & Sounds, Queen Butch, Tuff, and Resound. The programming points chiefly toward house, techno, club music, bass-heavy electronic sets, and adjacent pop-facing dance bills; all listed August and September 2026 events carry an 18-and-up entry policy and 10 p.m. start time. Expect a compact, standing-room main floor, a bottle-service option, and limited seating beyond the elevated terrace above the booth.
