Come And Take It

Come And Take It Live is a 500-capacity Austin club whose history includes Antone’s, Midway Field House and Grizzly Hall under the same roof. Its current identity grew from a handoff to Come And Take It Productions, whose calendar keeps heavy touring bills close to the floor while also making room for hip-hop, country, pop and film. The defining draw is scale: large enough for a full club crowd, compact enough for a direct view from the main room.

A room renamed in midstream

The present chapter began as Grizzly Hall in May 2016, opened by former Emo’s partner Jason Sabala. In November 2016, longtime Dirty Dog Bar general manager Ben Davis and booker Anthony Stevenson took over the East Riverside lease. Their Come And Take It Productions background included metal programming at Dirty Dog Bar and the Texas Independence and Texas Revolution festivals, giving the building a clearer heavy-music direction at a pivotal moment.

January 2017 supplied a sharp early marker: Superjoint, led by Philip H. Anselmo, played a full-house tour opener at the 500-capacity Grizzly Hall, then slated for its Come And Take It Live rebrand. The name change had landed by July 2017, when local coverage described Come And Take It as Austin’s newest venue and identified its recent transition from Grizzly Hall. The building’s prior lives remain part of the story, yet the Davis-Stevenson takeover is the moment that set its present booking character.

The room now

Come And Take It Live presents itself as genre-neutral and accepts event-booking and artist-submission inquiries through Come And Take It Productions. In practice, rock, metal, punk and hardcore form a strong current, alongside hip-hop, country, pop, art and film events. Shows are regularly listed as all ages. The room uses a main general-admission floor plus mezzanine, balcony and VIP areas, with multiple bars and a smoking patio; capacity listings place it at 500, so packed heavy bills reward an early arrival and a spot on the floor or upstairs edge.
