Batch

Batch is a roughly 50–60-seat indoor listening room folded into an Austin kolache bakery and brewery, with a larger tree-shaded backyard for outdoor sets. The draw is its mixed-use setup: a small interior stage sits in a converted 1940s stone ranch house, while an outdoor stage and DJ booth extend the footprint behind it. Shows share space with pints, coffee, pastries, and everyday neighborhood traffic, creating an informal, close-range concert experience.

A ranch house, then a brewhouse

Brothers Noah and Josh Lit built Batch after nine months of kolache pop-ups at local breweries, opening the family business on August 11, 2017. The conversion gave a 1940s stone ranch house a bakery, taproom, bottle shop, and small music stage; pastry chef Jasmine Jones developed its initial menu. A first-day sellout carried its own useful measure of demand: by that evening, a message on the door asked would-be customers to return the next day. In 2019, Batch added a separate brewhouse and barrel room beside the original building. The November opening brought head brewer John Snyder, formerly of Jester King, into the operation and turned the original bakeshop into the taproom for Batch beer alongside guest pours. That expansion keeps food and drink at the center of the room’s character.

How a Batch show works

Today, Batch functions as a community-facing, low-barrier host for music: Sunday bluegrass, twice-monthly jazz jams, songwriter nights, open mics, chamber-music reading sessions, choir events, swing, and Latin-rooted programs all appear on its calendar. Several listings invite performers of every experience level, and Batch says groups can use the space without charge on a first-come, first-served basis. For a seated indoor show, expect the compact stage, café tables, bar stools, and a long banquette. Outdoor bills move to the backyard stage, where picnic-table seating, a covered patio, and the DJ booth suit social, daytime, and participatory sets.
